Bullet Tree Road to be Paved

   

  According to a source, the unofficial highway linking San Ignacio to Spanish Lookout on the north side of the Belize River, otherwise known as the Bullet Tree road, is about to receive a major upgrade: pavement. Based on the source, a construction company in Spanish Lookout was given the contract this year and work is scheduled to begin as early as January 2025.
  Certain rumors which have not been verified are that the Mennonites of Spanish Lookout have asked, or already received, a special favor from the government in exchange for covering a portion of the expenses in paving the road.

Foster Child Dies in Spanish Lookout

  Ayana Bennett Moody      Update on Nov. 22    Foster parents Marvin and Lena Plett of Spanish Lookout were formally charged with manslaughter today in the death of 4-year old Ayana Moody which ocurred Friday morning, Nov. 17. Belize Facing Unprecedented Power Outages

    They began last month, several random power outages country wide which BEL (Belize Electricity Ltd) declared was caused by the Mexican energy supplier CFE curtailing the flow of electricity to Belize due to a surge in consumer demand in both countries caused by the heatwaves affecting Central America and southern Mexico. Belize consumes an average of 85 megawatts but during peak season that number can climb to 100, far exceeding the local supply provided by our own generators located in the central south as well as the imported amount. To make matters worse, a generator near Belize City is currently out of service due to maintenance which caused a popular tourist town to experience more than 12 hours of power outage last week.
