This week, government officials met with several hundred members of Shipyard, an Old Colony Mennonite community in Orange Walk, northern Belize. The Mennonites were requesting the current upgrading of the main southern entrance to be extended in order for their community to be more easily accessible from the south, saving them the roundabout road through the town of Orange Walk. The government promised to pave the required section of the road for them and praised them for their hard work and contribution to the country's economy.

According to multiple sources, a couple from Agua Viva, a rural community a few miles away from Belmopan which is composed of ex-Mennonites, practicing Mennonites and various immigrants from Europe, were at the marketplace in Belmopan.
